My Good Buddy, Dr. Robert Greenleaf: Mindsets--Fixed, Growth, and Implications for Learning
I have had the pleasure of knowing Dr. Robert Greenleaf for about fifteen years. He is an absolute master teacher of teachers. Now serving as a consultant, he takes the findings of important neuroscientists and makes their work truly accessible for classroom use. I became a student of neuroscience and dendrite plasticity research about twenty-six years ago, and when I met Bob and some other scientist-practioners at a National Institute of Health Conference in 2001 in Washington D.C., I knew I had to cajole him into making the long trek to both Pennsylvania and New Jersey to present to our staff. He has since made his way from his home in Maine on many, many occasions to work with educators in various districts at my behest. I am forever grateful to him for growing our teaching brains in a wide variety of districts in which I have been employed.
